Thunder Snow review – a very rushed set of pictures as I only got there in time to see them once around the paddock blanketed in the cold. Thunder Snow the biggest amongst what looked like mostly smaller or unready ones, beat them well in a fairly ordinary time. Apparently the course had been watered as they weren’t expecting rain.

Thunder Snow – Just a bit longer and taller than the rest, big but lithe and athletic with some hard to define class advantage in his appearance. Ran quite green but did it easily in the end. Did not appear hard trained beforehand but was barely blowing at all in the winners enclosure. 95

Parys Mountain – Well balanced mid to lower medium size, smaller all round and a bit less chest depth than Thunder Snow but still fair athlete. 80

Evergate – Full medium to upper medium, evidently fit yet a bit awkwardly put together. Odd sort of ride in that Holland appeared to let him do too much early so that he must have been 6l up on the winner at 3f, then did not seem to make much effort to drive him out, maybe he was all used up by 5f. So far I have seen nothing to convince me that Charlie Hills giving his old mate Dazzler the stable jock position was a good idea as far as the 2yos are concerned. Doesn’t seem to be the one making up their mind. Bit different from riding old lags around Mauritius perhaps. Did he have a good record with 2yos before he went overseas I wonder. Evergate 77

Arzaak – Notably green beforehand dancing about but also fitter than most of the other debutants suggesting Owen Burrows is going to be reliable. Pulled hard early and taken on a tour of Leicestershire by Bud Flanagan. Small but well muscled and strong. 78

Juan Horsepower – Well named neat and ready little chap. Sean Levey isn’t very big and his legs are dangling below this ones chest like he’s George Baker. Professional. 72

Hyde Park – Not that taking in the paddock apart from a better walk than most of the smaller ones. Short back and not that much substance. 75

Apex King – Poor photo but recollection was that he was one of the medium ones and quite well made but carrying plenty of condition. 77

Drochaid – Lightly made but into lower medium in terms of height and length. Good stride and looked capable of development. 74

Bongrace – Short and compact. Not a lot to work on. 64

Jumira Prince – 400k but cheap by the pound. An awful lot of him but looks like Roger Varian is going to have to give him some runs to get him fit enough to compete,. Did show some early speed but then his lack of condition took its toll. Late developer but might be ok if he can shift the bulk. 80+

General Allenby – Small 55

Heavenly Cry – Small 45
