=== Pre Race === Palmer Betfair blog = "We have Hyperfocus in the 2yo 5f novice at Leicester on Saturday and he is a smashing colt. He has been working away nicely with four or five juveniles at home, which include Copper Knight. And there wouldn't be much between those two. He has done little wrong at home and he is a gorgeous, jet-black colour. A rich, dark black black colt, shiny and stunning to look at. Looking at his action he shouldn't be inconvenienced by a bit of cut.". === Post Race === ==== Review Notes contributed by @hughonthehill (Twitter handle) ===== ==== Note :- The ratings number at the end of each review summary is an estimate of what OR they might reach rather than a reflection of how they ran on the day. See the Paddock Review Rating Section on this website for reference. Hyperfocus Review The quality/readiness of the opposition may have made this performance look better than it was. Not to under-estimate just how well Hugo Palmer prepares them for debut. In his Betfair notes he said that there would not be much between Hyperfocus and Copper Knight which entitled him to win this race in the style he did. He is a neater model than Copper Knight with maybe a little less scope. Hyperfocus – his gleaming coat and attractive Black/brown colour made him look in great condition. No more than lower end of medium, neatly made and although a bit lively on the pre-lims did not boil over. 80 Billy’s Boots – Small, fit, size limited 65 Rapid Rise – As big as Hyperfocus but less neatly made, not looking more than 85% fit 67 Primrose Place – Another Hannon runner that did not appear ready, very upright at the front end with a gawky neck. Trundled through the tiring early leaders. Her proximity to those in front holding down the quality of opposition. 58 Arc Royal – Small, short, fat trundler 57 Il Sicario – On edge beforehand, a bit bigger frame than the others, looking slightly gross and unready. Maybe need further 66 Fethiye Boy – Similar shape and colour to Hyperfocus, maybe a slightly bigger frame, less muscle bulk and not as fit. 73 Silver Asset – Long narrow weak filly with a calculating look on her face. Might strengthen up to improve a bit. 60 As a side note I saw Aiden O’Brien interviewed this morning by Clare Balding. He was talking about what he looks for while they work. He mentioned two specifics, how they were moving and the expression on their face to see if they were enjoying it. |
