SUMMARY

=== Pre Race ===

Fahey SL piece = "It's our biggest Saturday team of the season so far starting with Boundsy in the Novice Auction Stakes at Ripon. Our two-year-olds are tending to need their first run this season - we don't know why - which means he's hard to fancy on debut but he's sure to win something at some stage, as he goes nicely at home.".

Who Told Jo Jo ridden by A5 Nathan Evans.

=== Post Race ===

Bill Turner interviewed post race and said they had though WTJJ was ok but had got hampered FTO and then carried wide at STO (check video). Said he did not know what went wrong at SWEL STO but noted WTJJ had jump left from the stall (out of character) and had been slightly lame the day after but ok 2 days after. Knocked back the "Royal Ascot" bollocks and said he might have a go at the Lily Agnes.

Another winner to come from the ruck 9L behind Sutter County in the first race of the season. Unusual 'Shape' to the way the race is working out which needs some back-checking.

An auction race with 5 of field costing less than 10k and the top 3 between 15k to to £24k. Bonnie Arlene the most expensive but looked limited on debut and no better here. Race used to be fillies' only until 2014 and had produced some solid 2yos. Last year the first two home were OR80+ males. Inclined to view this was a below average field.

Who Told Jo Jo getting to the rail under the A5 and attended by Shadow Wing until that one faded back. Prob an advantage. WTJJ 70+ but not much better and check size.

Trainer Barron looking like he has a better group of 2yos that 2015 and has them more forward. He won the race with zippy, precocious filly Sarista in 2014 and she was on STO. That one ran well when 4th in the Windsor Castle. Mama Africa on debut here and looking a smaller one but solidly built and with some length. A 70+ one but prob lacking scope and lesser type than Sarista.

Boundsy running fine but looking a smaller and compact one. A ready smaller sprinter but size limited. 65-70 ish.

Shadow Wing expensive at €31k in context of this field. But, a negative on her yearling Video. Small and ready type but a bit too small and lacking scope unless she grew. Well prepared here and Kingscot got her into the race but not seeing 5f out and fading well back. May just be short running cheap speed. 60+ in faster conditions early season.

Tim Easterby often uses the RIPN April races to run a good one and get a number of his rare FTO wins. Won this race in 2015. Both his runners at longer prices and clearly not in his better level 2yos. Has run 5 x 2yos so far and hard to see much promise in any of the runs to date.
