SUMMARY
=== Pre Race ===

Snippet from the, typically, upbeat write up about Sterling Silva from the MPR website going back some time. = "Now we wouldn't wish to offend any of the Sacha Park owners, but this colt is a nicer specimen, a stronger specimen than Sacha Park and in addition, he walks and moves better than Sacha Park did at the same point in his career. We'd be quite surprised if this fellow isn't better than Sacha, and Sacha earned a rating of 97 in his pomp. He was a Group horse in the making before the wind problem hindered him." Sacha Park being an older sibling MPR also owned. Visual evidence on website for SSilva looks positive and picture used showing him in work striding out well. Circumstantials also good in that a £70k one wouldn't be running early for connections unless he was showing up well.

Hannon stable do not use LEIC much for FTOs but have started two solid ones in recent years plus a duff filly. The two colts were both ok winners with Beau Nash a 78-82 type and Kool Kompany (won on debut here) a Gp2 winner in Ir/Fr for the same owners.

=== Post Race ===

Sterling Silva in the Winners' Enclosure surrounded by an Audience of Zero. There probably is a job of 'Atmosphere Designer' whose task would be to arrange spaces to promote an atmosphere. LEIC lost its capacity for this over the years with various developments. It might be an Architect's role but back-fitting 'Atmosphere' creating improvements to an existing area really needs doing here. The Middleham Park Racing jacket has the name of Toormore on the back of it. A Debut winning 2yo at the course who went on to be a Group 1 winner as a juvenile.

=== First Thoughts ====

Interesting race with the stiff Pace set in testing conditions allowing Sterling Silva to find a way to win despite being green. You would think that if this had been fast ground and the race run in 5-6+ seconds faster time Lucata might well have hung on.

Lucata seeming to run well FTO despite looking a smaller one and finding various problems. Backed to favourite here with SSilva drifting. On VRev AP looking smaller (it not plain bijou), compact, short and ready type. Little scope because of his size and needs to win before his lack of size sees the Average Ability Bar move upwards away from him as the 2yo population ages (and grows) through the season. But, a professional and the best break and over to the rail to lead with a typical Kingscote positive ride (Pace too lively though). WYSIWYG with Lucata and uncomplicated but size limited and should be a soild quality marker horse. He isn't a real 75 horse and 60s in the real term and needs to win his 'Novice' soon. Tiring through the last 1f and gone by into the last 0.5f.

Sterling Silva not looking a bigger type in a small group but the biggest (at medium size and solid build) and more body length and range than the others. Broke ok next to the rail but a bit green and needing niggling along at times to keep up. Looking an unlikely winner 2f out given the greenery but staying on in the last 1f as the prominent runners folded. Hanging right off the rail and taking time to understand his job. But, looking at his best in the last 0.5f and showing the range in his stride he does in the picture. Clearly the one with the scope to improve and to be better for 6f. Kool Kompany looked similarly hard-worked to win his maiden on debut here in April and would expect SSilva to rate OR85+, say. Check how far his rangy movement gets him, both in quality and distance requirement terms.

Of the Stan Moore pair Rinky Dink Dawn looking physically bigger and in better condition. A surprise given her yearling picture makes him look dog-sized. RDD too green in the race and got behind then ran too freely to get to be prominent. Faded quickly after looking still to be involved into the last 2f. Check how she develops for low level usability. Sheila's Lad more competent but less involved and little interest.

Sayesse a similar smaller and ready type like Lucata. As compact as that one but perhaps with a bit more strength in front if looking less complete. Some Market support. Able to attend the pace ok but another getting very tired and losing ground before the final 1f. A usable smaller on and OR67 (?) say?
