MAY 15th SUMMING UP
|
A typical race in prospect with none of the runners likely to be useful
or better but a competitive heat.
The two previous winners - Lord Jack Flash & Grimes Faith
are both front runners and are likely to get hooked up together here. Lord
Jack Flash has shown better form and kept on better in his races. He has
his extra 5lb penalty nullified by his acceptable apprentice.
The filly Just Down The Road made a good debut in a slowish race
here on soft ground. She finished fourth behind three good early season
2yos but may not show great improvement because her trainer has his 2yos
well forward on debut. However, in receipt of weight she has the best chance
of picking up the previous winners later in the race.

RACE QUALITY:
|
The actual performances required to win have varied hugely in the last
three years from 50-88. In 2004 the later Group winner Tournedos was a
non runner, along with the Hannon 2yo. This led to a weak race.
In 2003 the later Listed race winner Fortunately (previously a seller winner)
was beaten in an average race.
2002 included later Group winners Never A Doubt & Hurricane Alan who
fought out the finish.
|
TRAINERS:
|
R Hannon has had at least one intended runner in the last three
years. The last two have been average early season winners who were beaten
and only won once in the season. In 2002 he ran Hurricane Alan (placed
in a Group 1 two days ago) STO after he had been beaten in a Nottingham
Maiden. He beat later Group 2 winner Never A Doubt after she ran too freely.

SIRES:
|
First season sires Carrowkeel
(Bathwick Rox) & Primo
Valentino (Safari Mischief) have runners.
Woodborough has two runners
who were both early season 5f winners for owner breeders (Lord Jack Flash
& Grimes Faith).
