Pre-race Summary

JUNE 3rd SUMMING UP
  • A moderate race in profile and with some good potential in the field and prospects of a longer priced winner. Serevi represents a powerful stable and is the most expensive purchase. He made his debut in a York maiden over 6f which has had mixed results from subsequent runs. He showed a more promise than his finishing position suggests and had progressed to fourth place before a bad fade in the last furlong. He drops down to 5f which makes some sense.
  • However, he does not look a useful type and likely to set just a moderate to average standard. His trainer often uses northern maidens to ensure a STO win but it would not be a surprise to see him struggle in the same way as Littledodayno did 5 days ago at Redcar.
  • Most interest in the race is in the potential for the future of King Orchisios, Pensata, Chilsdown & possibly Tamagin. All have prospects to be 70+ rated but all are on debut for trainer's that only get FTO winners with useful types. King Orchisios & Pensata both were likeable types at the sales and have some prospects to be good enough to compete on debut.
  • RACE QUALITY:
  • The race has been of moderate to average quality in the last two years with the bigger trainers using the race for lesser 2yos. R Hannon ahs run two who were not capable of rating 70 for example and the race has taken a sub 70 rating to win.
  • SIRES:
  • First season sire Mozart (Chilsdown & Musical High) has two runners.
  • SALES REVIEWS:
  • King Orchisios rated 77. Above average size and build and a likeable, slightly lengthy and neat sire type. Ok for 70s ratings in early to mid season.
  • Pensata rated 75. Above average size and build, needing to develop muscle and level up but a good, athletic mover and good attitude.
  • Chilsdown rated 68. Medium size and just above average build. Slightly compact and leggy (often not a good combination) but an ok little to medium sprinter.
  • Musical High rated 64. Below average size and lightly built. Narrow and lacking some power behind.
