Pre-race Summary

JUNE 9th SUMMING UP
  • A moderate to average edition of the race on profile with none of the runners bringing in strong previous form. Montzando has looked to lack 5f pace and has plugged on at the end of his races to show moderate form. He sets a low standard and probably has a slightly disadvantageous draw.
  • R Hannon has won the last two runnings of the race with fillies who had made indifferent debuts but improved with racing to show improved form STO or 3TO. Walklikeanegyptian fits the same profile having made just an average debut in a maiden fillies' race here at a meeting where the far rail was an advantage. She was notably backed despite being second string (possibly the 'Fallon' factor) and raced in the centre of the track. In that context she gets a small plus mark for making some progress after halfway to 5th before fading.
  • She is small but has a reasonable build and neatly put together. It would be not surprise to see her jockey get her to the rail despite the stall 5 draw. She just comes out top on profile with the 5lb fillies' allowance included.
  • Both of the top two are vulnerable to a better type but the field seems to be of limited potential for the day.
  • RACE QUALITY:
  • Usually an average or just above maiden requiring a 70+ performance to win. The field usually contains a one, or more, of later maiden winners who may go on to compete quite well in nurseries.
  • TRAINERS:
  • R Hannon has two runners with Walklikenaegyptian the likely first string over Zavone.
  • He has won the race for the last two seasons with a filly who had previous runs and had been unplaced on debut. In the previous seasons he had the runner up with a colt.
  • SIRES:
  • First season sire Mull Of Kintyre (Croft) has a runner.
  • PADDOCK & SALES REVIEWS:
  • Croft  (Sales) rated 74.
  • Walklikeanegyptian (Sandown) rated 70. Small but with above average build. In proportion and neat and with good muscle in front although limited by her size.
  • Montzando (sales) rated 66.
  • Zavone (sales) rated 65 but with a slightly below average chance of being a 2yo winner because of how physically immature he was. Slightly below medium size but heavily built and deep through.
