GF in early am as on Decs. 12mm of Watering "Monday/Tuesday", 12mm on Thursday. Stalls Far Side? === Pre Race === Godolphin jks = A3 Stott (CApp attached) Hornsby, A5 Marquand (1st Godolphin ride?) Comicas, Bentley (Sacked by Qatar 2014, 6th ride for Suroor in last 2 weeks) Race Day. === Post Race === [June 26th] Stals Far Side to centre track. Field forming up into a narrow peleton in Centre track. Later race efforts starting early before 2f out and field all Drifting Right to be Stands Rail and off it by the finish. Early late race kicks adding enough pressure to start to separate ability levels by the finish but not get that far into the job. Wide range of sizes and types with the field taken along by the only filly in the field Its A Sheila Thing (small terrier looking out of place) and the MaJo runner (contractually obliged) Street Duel looking fairly typical Johnston 7f kit. Comicas typically green Appleby debut. Slow start but able to recover to the slow pace. Slow to react when hustled by the jk to do things during the race. Looking a solid size and lengthy. Deeper front. Appearing to stretch out fine when making his effort and looking a lower slung, rangy mover doing it. Showing enough in the effort to think fine for 75+ if more professional. Hard to judge sizes at present but looked ok 80+. Size judgement of Comicas affected a bit by his being loomed over by Il Piccolo Grande for the first half of the race. IPG looking to be the first sighting of a 'monster' that will have to followed even if it means over-the-cliff. Big and strong and lookign to move fine when pulling too hard early. A straight and correct looking mover but perhaps not using his range when asked to pick things up in the last 2f+. But, staying on fine in his time. Must be a good 80+, perhaps 8f+. Since he only cost 25k it would be worth it, for the laugh, to put him in a low level Auction event somehere in the North. Towering over rabbits and 60s triers in the prelims. Come on Clive, give the crowd one last dance. [July 10th] Race Day in the 3rd Godolphin colours but the shortest SP. On VRev looking a good type and similar set-up to Comicas but stronger build, particularly in front. RDay a good break and always running a touch free. Inclined to think we did not see what he could do in the last 1f. Initially horse looking wary with leader fading back into him and RD not knowing what to do to get out and round. Instead put his head to one side and riolled a bit. Then squeezed back and losing ground momentum. That more likely because he was green/wary rather than the 'gap going too fast for him'. Looks a solid prospect STO and 80+ [July 16th] Botti mostly positive about Jassur in 215 and enough to think he is at least a 75 one. Despite calling him "compact" & "precocious". Very green here and a worry whether some on the antics more behaviour rooted and not fixable. Slow break and pick-up and last early on off-the-back. Also a surprise to see him wearing a Shadow Roll since Botti, unlike Balding & Kevin Ryan for eg, does not stick that headgera on all his horses. Jassur able to get back into the group and going ok to 2f out. But when asked to make his effort his head went up and he started rollign around if still going forward a bit. Showing more pace that the bigger galloper IPG and ahead of that one to 1f out. Jk using whip slaps from early on as if expecteing this behaviour and the Shadow Roll looking as if it was there purposefully to try to stop the head going up. Heavily eased later in the last 1f to end up well back having shown more than that mid-race. Just a medium one and looking longer than 'compact'. Need to be able to believe the Head Up nonsense has been fixed to take him seriously. |
