SUMMARY
=== Pre Race ===

Some quotes from Wesley Ward wrt New Trier = New Trier is a very nice filly, She's done everything right. We breezed her on the dirt back at Palm Meadows but as soon as I put her on the grass, she really turned around and you could see the breeding came out in her .

Ward sounding like he is learning British meaningless trite quotes initially. Recovers to say something interesting but raises a slight question over why NT starts on Polytrack. Presumably from an American 'Dirt' viewpoint the Polytrack is closer to Turf racing. US jockey Valdivia here to ride (Dettori up at DONC with Create A Dream). Valdivia noting he is not missing US racing because he is in a short break between the Fair Grounds race season closing and Keeneland season not starting up until Friday the 8th. His interview making this sound like part holiday and part keeping trainer Ward sweet because Valdivia wants to come back to ride at Royal Ascot (and presumably keep well in for Ward's US rides).

=== First Thoughts ===

Some things to cover = [

Fastish time but conditions faster than the previous week?]

[SCreek a, somewhat superior, version of the 'Princess Banu Effect' for Channon]
Quotes from Channon website after SC's win = "There's so much to like about this horse and by no means is he just a little two year old runner we've had to get ready early. He just wanted to get on and was a standout as the sharpest one we had. He's no throwaway juvenile though because he does have a lot of quality about him. He's a good looking colt with a willing attitude and we'll see how he comes out of this now. He handled the sharp turn well and has speed from the gate so I'd imagine we'd have to look at something like the Lily Agnes next.".
[Picture Note = Work picture on Channon website, available after the win makes SC look small and compact but above averagely deep and strong enough for his size. Under-rated so far because of size/frame appearance on Vids?]

[Tomily showing enough to think she is 88-90ish Listed say. Green here and hanging on the bend and a solid effort to get to 2nd given the issues. Dam an April FTO winning 2yo and Listed winner and half sister Fig Roll 2nd in similar early KTNA race like this FTO and Listed winner]

[Market doing a pretty good job of picking Tomily out as the best/better prospect and resisting claims of MaJo & Ward 2yos to some extent]

[Dusker professional FTO but plain lacked the pace to go with SCReek having attended him and fading. Typical from 2015 to have and early FTO binge followed by mixed results but mostly by at least usable ones. 6f type?

[Makman looking a ready, compact strong sprinter in picture and a bit below medium size but strong. V Rare Ed Dunlop early runner and typical debut for an ok one. Presumably will rate 79+ as a sprinter]

[Lucata another smaller and compact one and a bit of a question over whole race qual that he finished ok close given he ran wide overall. = Lucata better than profile or this a race where 2nd/3rd perhaps finishing 'with' types they will prove better than?]

[Dolokhov looking another ok strong ready sprinter in his Picture and made fav on his debut in France. Ran green and Soumillon pulled him up. 33/1 here and looking unwilling when adift on the bend and hustled along. Gives impression he has more ability than his temperament lets him show so far. Worth tracking. ]

[PRing picture of New Trier looking a small and compact HRE but already muscled up and ready. General Question to ponder is what PEDT training methods, disallowed in GB, Ward uses before they are imported. A cheap foal and with a non early 5f pedigree. Make her trained by Dascombe, say, and she would have been 16/1+. Jk Valdivia riding RH track and ending up running 2 wide on a tight bend AND making a forward move on the crown of the bend. Not a good call Jose. Interesting to note his nickname is apparently the Boss-of-the-Moss in the US because he excels on Turf tracks there (leave out the Botanical point that Moss are an entirely different Phylum form Grasses, etc). Ship him in the ride a RH Polytrack course on a filly suited to Turf (not Moss). Hmm.]

=== Post VRev ===

[Apr 8th] Lucata STO run on the day. Looking back at his debut run and he seems to do very well to be 5th given the issues. Slightly slow break then hampered by the unsteerable horse to drop to 8th. Typical Kingscote positivity (overly so prob here) to make progress 2 wide on the bend. Looks like he might be up to jnt-3rd but staling a bit later on the bend. Then carried wide into the HS but still finding a response the chase the lead 4 and only fading very late. Looking smaller, compact and ready but seeming to run better than his size suggests.
