MAY 15th SUMMING UP
|
A typically open and low level 5f race at the course. None of the group
set a fully positive profile and a number have enough 'hints' to suggest
that they might be able to reach 50+ form (which is a low standard). Therefore
it would be no surprise to see any one of the top 5 on profile scramble
a win and if one of them has 60+ ability they could win quite comfortably.
Lucksin is a relatively solid marker and ran to expectations on
debut. He is unlikely to improve and gives weight all around. Also his
trainer has such a poor 2yo win record it makes sense to think that 'something'
will show enough to beat him.
We then get into trying to estimate which of the others has enough positives
to reach that level. Lindus Atenor was an early debut runner for
a good 2yo trainer and ran just an ok debut. She has had a 6 week break
and is her trainer's first runner after a complete break with 2yos. Her
performance will be informative but she has strongish claims to be able
to better Lucksin's level.
Trans Vision's trainer has a notably declining record with 2yos
which were the bedrock of his father's stable. In each recent season he
has found at least one surprise winner from his bargain basement fillies.
She showed the best form of any of his debut runners so far and his 'better'
2yos have shown around 10lb improvement STO.

RACE QUALITY:
|
Usually a moderate quality race requiring a rating in the 60s to win. In
the last two season the race had included a runner who developed to rate
much more highly - High Voltage (second in 2003 for K Burke) & Polly
Perkins (one of a two surprise debut wins for patchy 2yo trainer N Littmoden).

TRAINERS:
|
K Burke has only run four 2yos for a total of six runs to date.
They made early debuts in line with his normal methods but none have placed
and Lindus Atenor is his first runner since April 20th. By the same date
in 2004 nine 2yos had made their debuts and won 4 of their 21 races along
with 6 places.
In 2003 seven 2yos had been introduced and won 5 of their 12 races plus
6 places.
Does he have a moderate set of 2yos in 2005 or is he just behind his normal
schedule? Or both?
