Pre-race Summary

MAY  20th SUMMING UP
  • A low quality race and none of those with previous runs have solid form. Most are stepping up to 6f after failing to be competitive at 5f and either being outpaced or fading after trying to keep with a 5f pace.
  • With such a low level likely to be required to win a number of those with previous runs would only need to show minor improvement to win. The History Man has the best form but has looked a soft finisher over 5f and outbattled by smaller fillies on his last two runs. Unless the problem has been that he struggles with 5f pace it is difficult to see him being a strong finisher here.
  • Bond Angel Eyes is the most expensive runner in the race. Her trainer has made a notable start to 2005 with 2 wins and a strong finishing place here from three 2yo debuts this month. She would only need to be an average debut by his 2005 standards to compete very well in this flawed group.
  • SIRES:
  • First season sires Beckett (Secret Tender) & Golden Snake (Snake Skin) have runners. Neither has had a winner.
  • TRAINERS:
  • B Smart (Bond Angel Eyes) did not have his usual early season 2yo runners. He has run three 2yos since May 12th and they have finished 3rd (12/1), 1st (7/2) & 1st (14/1). The earliest debuts each season tend to be the competitive 2yos and the performance so far suggests he has a reasonable group and they have been readier than usual FTO.
  • SALES REVIEWS:
  • Secret Tender 67.
  • The History Man 64.
  • Bowland Boy 63.
