Pre-race Summary

MAY  26th SUMMING UP
RACE QUALITY:
  • Usually a moderate race with limited future significance. The 2003 race was typical and contained just one later seller winner.
  • TRAINERS:
  • D Carroll has his first runner of the season at the usual time to start with his main batch of 2yos. He has not had the early season debuts he had in 2003-4. He has a moderate record with 2yos overall.
  • In 2003 his 2yos tended to run close to their best rating on debut and then tail off later in the season. The two winners both placed on debut and were close to their best rating.
  • 2004 was disappointing with none of the 9 runners showing worthwhile form. The debuts were later as a group but similar to 2003 they were close to their best rating on debut and did not progress.
  • A Duffield has her first 2yo runner of the season notably late and usually has a batch of April debuts.
  • Notable for having the runners competent and very close to their best rating on debut. The 3 winners in 2004 were amongst the batch of the earliest (April) debuts.
  • 2yos tend not to progress but run to a consistent level. In previous seasons has had difficulty converting placed runners into winners. In 2004 managed to win three weaker early season races but three other placed runners did not win.
  • SIRES:
  • First season sires City On A Hill (City For Conquest), Minardi (Jellytot) & Primo Valentino (First Among Equals & True Valentine) have runners). It is Minardi's first runer of the season.
