JUNE 8th SUMMING UP
|
An uncompetitive race on profile with Zabeel House probably able
to win comfortably without showing any improvement from a solid debut.
He showed a good move after halfway in that race to get to 2nd from 6th
and chase home a winner with a previous run. He ought to have an easier
race than the last 2yo for the owner that the trainer brought to Ripon.
In that case Mubeen just held on as short priced favourite but ran into
two 100+ rated 2yos (one a later Group 2 winner) one at 50/1.
Unless Midnight Pearl is unusually forward and nippy for a daughter
of Woodman she is unlikely to be able to compete with Zabeel House. The
trainer has had three good debuts mixed in with some moderate ones in 2005
and the market has been a good guide as to what to expect.
With the newcomers Midnight Pearl & Fruit Salad unlikely to
put up strong debuts in would be no surprise to get at least one long priced
place fro a runner with experience such as Bright Sparky or Sambertini
but probably at some distance behind Zabeel House.

RACE QUALITY:
|
Race is run a week earlier in 2005 presumably because the Ripon meeting
has been moved because of 'Ascot at York' next week.
An average maiden in the last two years with performances just over 70
required to win. Oddly in both years the later winners did not make the
first three and were spread through the field. In 2003 this was because
both favourites disappointed (including a later Listed winner) and a typically
uncompetitive T Easterby debut.
In 2004 the later winners were moderate types and making debuts for non-FTO
trainers, with T Easterby featuring again.
