JUNE 9th SUMMING UP
|
|
RACE QUALITY:
|
The first open 7f maiden of the season following two sellers earlier in
the week. A mixed record in the last two years with the field mainly made
up of moderate to average, slow, types who had already proved themselves
(on the course or at home) too paceless for 6f.
The 2003-4 races have produced only 4 later winners but they have included
the best horses in the race with the highlight being later St Leger winner
Rule Of Law who failed to stretch out on the firm ground in his year and
finished only third.
In general it would have paid to take a negative view of the race in those
years with a number of runners that were identified as 'promising' in the
media proving too one paced to win in maiden company.

has two runners in the first 7f maiden of the season.

PADDOCK & SALES REVIEWS:
|
High Class Problem (sales) rated 80 and a good chance of being a
2yo winner. Just below medium size but heavily built. In proportion overal
and a good rangy mover. Looked like a 'medium sprinter' so a slight surprise
to see him start over 7f.
Sands Of Barra rated 67 with a slightly below average chance of
being a 2yo winner. Just above average size and build but notably lengthy
and not that athletic. A 'frame' of a horse at the sales and needed to
develop well to improve his movement.
