MAY 20th SUMMING UP
|
The race has been won by fillies with previous good runs in the last two
years. Lyndalee & Korolieva both just made adequate debuts
in races on softer going but showed some promise by trainer standards.
They have the profile with acceptable physical reviews to improve to set
an average level of form here.
The race has more depth than usual with some quite expensive fillies from
a range of bigger 2yo stables. Dhekraa comes from a stable which
targets stronger debuts in the north with its earliest FTO runners. They
have had a debut winner at Nottingham form two previous runs in 2005. The
other debut was the most fit 2yo that B2yoR had seen this season.
Crimson, Desert Flair, Cheap N Chic & In The Fashion
all have solid prospects to be at least average maiden winners but have
less obvious profiles to be able to reach a 70+ rating today.
|
RACE QUALITY:
|
The last two runnings have been mostly made up of moderate fillies with
the odd average, of just above, one included. The previous two winners
had good previous form and rated 70+ in winning relatively comfortably.
|
TRAINERS:
|
M Channon has run fillies for the Maktoum family in the last two
races. One developed to show useful form and the other was an eternal placer
in maidens. His runner here - Crimson - was declared to run at Goodwood
yesterday and is diverted here.
T Easterby has run three fillies in the last three races and all
have failed to win at 2yo.

SIRES:
|
First season sire Primo
Valentino (Cheap N Chic) is represented.
Third season sire Fasliyev
(Crimson, Dhekraa & Lyndalee) has three runners. He made a very good
start in his first season in 2003 highlighted by Group 1 winner Carry On
Katie and Group 3 winners Russian Valour & Kings Point. 2004 was a
poor to moderate follow up year with less winners and quality. He has had
a moderate start to 2005 with no winner yet. The three fillies cost between
20k to 90k guineas and we are getting to the stage of the season when we
should start to see better results if he is going to have them.
Stoutly bred sire In The Wings
(In The Fashion) has his first runner of 2005 and a rare one in earlier
season. He is notable for getting runners that need 7f+ at 2yo and a low
number of 2yo wins. He does better with 3yo+ at middle distance and ranks
highly for 'percentage of black type performers' because he produces 12f+
horses and operates in an uncompetitive field.
If he has runners before July and over 6f then they are either at least
quite good (to have that speed anyway, e.g. Swing Wing in 2001 & Hearthstead
Wings last year) or poor and need to run early in weaker races (or to get
a low handicap mark for 8f nurseries by running in sprint races).
