MAY 20th SUMMING UP
|
A good race and probably a close, competitive one. The runners with the
best obvious form - Getbuzzin, Stratham & Danish Express
- set a strong standard but all probably have limited development.
Getbuzzin has looked to lack basic pace and be more of a 'stayer' so would
be suited by a stronger pace to finish into. Only Danish Express has front
run and may do the same again. Stratham has tended to track the pace and
then try to finish late in the race off a tracking run but has shown only
average finishing ability.
Of the others both Mujood & Cool Sting have prospects
to be able to match the other three. Mujood was given a quiet
ride in a tough race at Salisbury which was an All-age 5f course record.
The runners with previous experience in that race ran as an effective 'team'
to make good use of the firm ground and tailwind to break the previous
record. Sensibly the jockey on Mujood did enough to ensure he beat the
rest without trying to chase the very strong pace.
Cool Sting represents a trainer who gets rare FTO wins except in May to
early June with useful types. He won this race in 2004 with that type.
He has prospects of being slightly above average but runs into a tough
group with previous experience here.

A Balding won the race in 2004 with a rare debut win with the useful
Hoh Hoh Hoh on his only 2yo race. He was supported and a notable short
price for a debut runner from that stable.
