Pre-race Summary

JUNE 8th SUMMING UP
RACE QUALITY:
  • Meeting transferred from Southwell and no corresponding race at the course in the last two years.
  • TRAINERS:
  • M Prescott (Flor Y Nata) started running his 2yos 10 days ago and has run one most days since. The record is :-
  • Aspen Falls (Mon) 2nd 10/1, Redcar;
  • Outlook (Wed) 2nd at 7/4f from 11/4, Wolverhampton;
  • Quote Unquote (Thu) 2nd at 6/1 from 3/1, Brighton;

  • Dream Fantasy (Sat) 1st at 13/2 (Opened 9/2 to 4/1 then out to 13/2 as three others backed)

  • Wicked Chance (Mon) 16th 16/1 as first string & poor draw, Windsor.
  • Prince Picasso (Tue) Unplaced, Redcar
  • Confidential Lady (Wed) 3rd 2/1f, Hamilton
  • Other than possibly Dream Fantasy they have only had to produce a rating in the range 55-65 to win or place. Only Outlook, Violette and Confidential Lady appeared to be backed and have positive 'vibes'.
  • SIRES:
  • First season sire Bertolini (Brunelleschi) has a runner.
  • Currently Australian based sire Hussonet (Santiago Star) has his first British 2yo runner. He was a minor 6f 2yo winner in the US when racing for Sheikh Mohammed. He retired to stud in Chile and had an exceptional record there and has been champion sire for the last five seasons. He was imported to Australia in 2003. Given his name Santiago Star was probably part of his last Chilean crop but bred to Northern Hemisphere season time.
  • PADDOCK & SALES REVIEWS:
  • El Capitan (sales) rated 74 with an above average chance of being a 2yo winner. Average size with above average build. Well balanced and mature.
  • Charlton (Leicester) rated 73. Medium size but with above average build. Slightly compact and a little leggy. Powerful in front but slighlty weaker behind. About 1 point below average race fitness. Bandaged in front.
  • Gattuso (sales) rated 66. Below medium size but average build. Physically immature and did not look an obvious early 2yo.
  • Wotavadun rated 65.
  • Phinerine rated 57. Small but with above average build. A little too compact and lacking range in movement.
