JUNE 15th SUMMING UP
|
None of the runners present a strong profile and more a race in which to
look for promise among the newcomers. If one of the newcomers is above
average he might win quite comfortably.
|
RACE QUALITY:
|
Race limited to colts & geldings and run a week later this year. In
2004 the winner also ran in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot which has
already been run in 2005.
Another race which demonstrates the variabilty in quality from year to
year. The 2003 race was relatively strong with 7 of the field winning later
in the season including 4 who were useful or better. The 2004 race saw
the 12 runners win the only race they managed between them at 2yo.
|
TRAINERS:
|
R Hannon (Mutawajid & Newport Boy) has run 5 in the race in
the last two years. Only one of these has won at 2yo with three being moderate
ability. The best runner finished 6th in the tougher 2003 race while the
disappointing Coucncellor finished 3rd in the modest 2004 race.
M Channon (Grantley Adams & Zizou) has run two in the race in
each of the last two years. One of these was a 70ish rated minor winner
and the other 3 were moderate maidens.

SIRES:
|
First season sires Fantastic Light (Zizou) & Mozart (African
Concerto) are represented.
