APRIL 15th SUMMING UP
|
With the advantage of a previous run and with the trainer's runners well
forward Lyrical Blues sets a standard to be an average winner of the race
although with less scope than some of the others.
Mr Cheers was a slightly better physical type than Lyrical Blues at the
sales and made a solid debut by trainer standards. Would need to improve
more than the trainer's standard to reach the average level for a winner
of the race.
Hillbilly Cat is the trainer's first debut and the earliest debuts by better
types usually compete well.
Royal Song would be a candidate for a surprise strong run on debut if the
race was on GF going and he was with a trainer with a better record with
2yos. His debut performance should be informative.

RACE QUALITY:
|
The race normally attracts a mixed field that includes a number of above
average later maiden winners. The race has been won in the last two years
by the runner with the best form in their previous runs.
This years race is similar with two runners with acceptable previous form
backed up by three runners with prospects to be 70+ winners in Hillbilly
Cat, Royal Song & Sands Crooner.

SIRES:
|
First season sire Bertolini
(Mr Cheers) has a runner.
US based second season sire Running
Stag has his first 2yo runner in the UK (Hillbilly Cat).

SALES REVIEWS:
|
Royal Song was rated 76 at the sales and this was seen as an 'at
best' and close to the Official Rating he should be able to achieve in
early to mid-season. He was neat and slightly small but an obvious, early
sprint type.
Mr Cheers was rated 72 at the sales and with an above average chance
of being a competitive 2yo.
Lyrical Blues was rated 68 at the sales with reasonable size and
build but slightly narrow. He was seen as having a good chance of being
an early winner.
Silver Crest was rated 57 at the sales with a well below average
chance of being a competitive 2yo at a reasonable level. He was small with
medium build and was still physically immature. Not particularly athletic.
