|
An interesting group of entries with 8 having prospects to be early season winners and one or two with prospects to be better types. None of the trainers of the higher profile rated runners are notable for FTO winners so some scope for a more 'ready' type to beat the best physical type. |
|
Second running of this early Maiden at the course, earliest race in
2002-3 was the early May (E) class Auction. The early races at the course
tend to be of variable quality but with the Maidens attracting some better
types while the Auctions are of lower quality. However, a Maiden this early
is unlikely to require a performance much above a 65 rating (could be lower),
although there could be 'developers' in the group.
The useful Bigalos Bandit (rated high 80s at season end) struggled to beat a 60s type who had a previous run in 2004, probably rating in the low 60s. |
|
The expected trainers have representatives including K. Burke (3 entries),
L. Stubbs and T. Easterby who had runners in the race in 2004.
More notable are northern entries for W.G.M. Turner (2 entries , but poor record other than at Thirsk), R. Cowell (his moderate 2yo winners in 2003-4 made debuts at Thirsk and Edinburgh) and M Wallace (uses northern courses in first half of season with variety of abilities, only one FTO winner (here) was competitive). |
|
Mostly the expected set of sprint 2yo sires.
The stand-out 'oddity' is US based second season sire Running Stag who was unraced at 2yo and made his debut over 10f. Showed best form over 9f on dirt at 5-6yo. First season sires represented are Bertolini (Mr Cheers & Triskadekaphobia who both got positive sales reviews in context of this race), Arkadian Hero (Lake Hero) and City On A Hill (City For Conquest). |
|
9 of the 17 entries were reviewed at the sales. 5 were given low ratings
between 58 to 63 and it would be disappointing if one of this group were
able to win this race.
4 were rated between 68-72 and were bigger and better types with ok prospects for early winners in line with this type of race. Top rated was Mr Cheers (72) but is with a trainer with a poor FTO record, Getbuzzin was rated 71 but would also be likely to need the run (and possibly 6f). Shaydreambeliever (67) and Triskadekaphobia (68) were different physical types but with similar prospects to be competitive in this type of race. |
