JUNE 6th SUMMING UP
|
A fairly typical edition of the race in profile but with hints of better
types who might be above the 65-70 level which is normally required to
win.
Genari made his debut in the slower division of a Newbury maiden
on firm ground which did not suit some runners. He looked a smaller, ready
type and handled the ground well to finish a solid second. He probably
has limited improvement but fits the profile of an average winner of this
race.
His trainer has a variable STO record and the three previous efforts by
his 2yos that finished 2nd FTO have produced a win, a third and one poor
run. So long as he reproduces his form he sets a solid but not unbeatable
standard.
Red Pride appears to be the first string of his trainer's three
entries despite the fact he is a newcomer and the other two have already
had experience. He has been entered in various races previously including
being one of five entries for a Listed 5f race. He finally makes his debut
at 6f in a modest contest. Although his trainer has a poor FTO win record
in 2005 (partly due to lack of better types) he may be good enough to compete
strongly in this type of race.
After that it is the usual case of looking for hints of solid form from
runners who have made just minor impressions in ordinary races. Hembury
Fort & Thomas Of Bathwick for example finished 3rd and 4th
in the same ordinary Bath maiden after receiving some support in the market
(as did half the field). With their weight concessions they reach the 65+
level but you wouldn't feel confident that they would win unless this proves
to be a moderate edition. They don't have progressive profiles and that
type tend to find something better than they are in these large fields.
If they win you would be fairly confident that the race would produce hardly
any later winners outside selling level.

RACE QUALITY:
|
A medium quality auction race where the raceweights are set by the sales
price achieved. The topweight in the race cost less than 25,000 guineas
which gives an indication of the lower overall quality of the field. In
line with the scale of purchase levels the race attracts a wide variety
of abilities but with a majority of moderate types.
The race has only produced one runner that rated over 70 one the day ion
the last two years and only 4 later, minor, winners from over 30 individuals.

TRAINERS:

R Hannon runs three with the jockeys indicating a preference
order of Red Pride, Roll The Dice and finally Silver Blue.

Of Love (Don Tenorio & Ollie George) have runners. Neither has

Dont Dili Dali (sales) rated 59 (83).
Saxon Star (sales) rated 57 (103).
Pertemps Heroine (Leicester, April) rated 57. One of the fittest
